  • Abuja Woman, Three Children Allegedly Detained on Husband’s Orders for Leaving Marriage, Forced to Sleep on Police Station Floor

A woman identified as Adaeze Gift Echendu Ike and her three young children were allegedly arrested and detained at the Airport Police Command in Abuja on her husband’s instructions after she attempted to leave their marriage. Family members say the mother and minors were forced to sleep on the station floor and face possible transfer to Anambra, where the husband reportedly wields influence. Despite accusations of theft filed by her husband, relatives insist she committed no crime and was only trying to exit the marriage. The family is calling on the IGP, human-rights groups, and the Ministry of Women Affairs to intervene as the police refuse to release her and the children.

  • "Lagos Police did not arrest Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy" — Command spokesperson, Adebisi, clarifies, adding that the arrest was carried out by Abuja Police officers.

The Lagos State Police Command has clarified that it was not involved in the arrest of Samuel Daniels, brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest was conducted by police officers from Abuja who were acting on an official assignment and carried a valid arrest warrant.

Adebisi explained that Samuel Daniels was briefly held at the Ogombo Police Division in Lagos due to the late hour before being transferred for further procedural steps.

“The individual in question was not arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command. The officers who effected the arrest came from Abuja with a duly signed arrest warrant. The suspect was temporarily detained at Ogombo Division due to the late hour, pending further procedural action,” Adebisi said.

The statement was issued following social media speculation that Lagos police had arrested Daniels amid an ongoing dispute between his family and Senator Ned Nwoko. Lawrence Daniels, Regina’s elder brother, had previously accused Nwoko of harassment and warned that he should be held accountable if anything happened to the family.

As of press time, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command had not released details about the arrest or the allegations against Samuel Daniels. SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police spokesperson, was unavailable for comment, and messages sent to her went unanswered.

This clarification aims to address the confusion and confirm that Lagos police merely facilitated a temporary hold before the suspect was transferred, with the Abuja team handling the official arrest process.
