At the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in Lagos, 3 Cold Dishes, co-produced by Burna Boy and Osas Ighodaro, emerged a top winner, earning Best Nigerian Film and Best Young/Promising Actor for Ruby Akubueze. Lateef Adedimeji won Best Actor for Lisabi: The Uprising, while Tina Mba received Best Supporting Actress for The Serpent Gift. South Africa’s The Heart Is a Muscle took home Best Film and several technical awards, and Burkina Faso’s Katanga: Dance of the Scorpions won Best Film in an African Language. The ceremony also featured performances by Made Kuti and tributes to late African film icons.
