According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Network (CCN), the incident occurred around 6:55 pm, with authorities now investigating it as a suspected case of suicide.
The shocking news has left many in mourning, particularly within Jamaica’s pageant community. The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization issued a heartfelt statement on Thursday, September 25, expressing deep sorrow over her passing.
“Tyra was more than a contestant; she was a vibrant, intelligent, and inspiring young woman whose grace and spirit touched everyone she met,” the statement read.
On behalf of reigning Miss Universe Jamaica, Dr Gabrielle Henry, and National Directors Mark McDermoth and Karl Williams, the organization extended condolences to Spaulding’s family, friends, and loved ones, adding:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them as we remember and honour her remarkable life and legacy. May she rest in eternal peace.”
