Nigerian Police Reportedly Spent N22.2m On Biscuits, N13.3m On Toilet Rolls – Govspend Records.

A review of the federal payments portal, Govspend, shows the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) spent N22.282 million on 85 cartons of Cream Crackers biscuits during 2023 operations.

On October 26, 2023, N7.073m was paid to Danlokey Systems Ltd for 25 cartons of biscuits, listed as “dry ration for personnel on discreet security ops.” This placed the cost of each carton at N282,928.

Earlier, on October 4, the police paid the same company N7.073m for 30 cartons for operations in Taraba State. Another N8.136m was paid on August 30 for 30 cartons for Yobe State. Averagely, each carton across the three transactions cost N261,717.

The portal also shows that the NPF spent N13.3m on 24 packs of Carla Rose toilet rolls between April and July 2023.

On April 21, N6.558m was paid to Waves Fulfillment Ltd for 12 packs (48 rolls per pack). Another N6.8m went to the same firm on July 27 for 12 more packs.

However, market checks by SaharaReporters found the open-market price of the product was far cheaper.

On Jumia, a pack of Carla Rose (48 rolls) costs N55,000, while on Konga it sells for N50,000. At these prices, 24 packs would cost about N1.32m, suggesting the police paid nearly ten times the market rate.
