BREAKING: Lagos Command PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, To Replace Muyiwa Adejobi As Nigerian Police Spokesman
The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, has been named the new Force Public Relations Officer, replacing DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, SaharaReporters has learned.
Adejobi, who is redeployed to the Delta State Command, leaves behind a controversial tenure marked by allegations of shielding police abuses, repressing dissent, and personal scandals. Despite criticism, he was controversially promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police.
His tenure also attracted international scrutiny, with rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju petitioning the U.S. Embassy to revoke his visa. Activist Omoyele Sowore repeatedly accused Adejobi of using his office to cover police misconduct and described him as “one of the worst policemen ever recruited.”
Hundeyin, who has served as Lagos Command spokesperson since March 2022, will now step into the national role as the police’s chief image maker.
