The Federal Government has announced that Friday, September 5, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, Muslims in Nigeria and beyond are encouraged to “reflect on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.”
The statement further noted that the Federal Government is calling on Nigerians across all faiths to “pray for peace, security, and national development,” while wishing Muslims nationwide “a joyous and peaceful celebration.”
