Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday night killed a prominent Lafia businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Sani Sabo, in Nasarawa State.
The attackers stormed the area around 9:20 p.m. and shot him dead. However, angry residents quickly mobilised, killing one of the assailants while others escaped.
Alhaji Sani, widely known for supporting the poor, is set to be buried today at 2:00 p.m. His death has sparked widespread mourning in Lafia.
As of press time, the Nasarawa State government and security agencies have yet to issue an official statement.
