The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says more than 1.3 million Nigerians completed online pre-registration for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the first week of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The exercise, which began on August 18, recorded 1,379,342 applications by August 24, with youths aged 18–34 making up over 62%.
Physical registration also commenced on Monday across 811 INEC offices nationwide, providing options for new registrants, transfers, and card replacements.
The Commission urged citizens not to delay, warning that multiple registrations remain illegal. The CVR runs until August 30, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
