Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Students, Arrest Three Suspects In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped students in Ikwo Local Government Area and arrested three suspects linked to the crime.

Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, said the students were rescued unhurt after operatives stormed an uncompleted building where they were held. She confirmed that the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

Between July and mid-August 2025, the command arrested 131 suspects for various offences, charged 52 to court, and recovered six vehicles, 15 firearms, and 50 rounds of ammunition. Several criminal hideouts were also dislodged across the state.

The CP noted that recurring land and boundary disputes during farming season remain a major security challenge in the state, but assured that proactive measures, including early warning systems and dialogue with communities, are yielding results.

She urged residents to continue supporting the police and report suspicious activities through the Command’s control room line: 07064515001.
