Anambra Sacks Eight Security Operatives Over Assault On Corps Member, Orders Prosecution
The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit after they were caught assaulting a female corps member in a viral video.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, announced the decision in Awka, stressing that the operatives would also be handed over to the police for prosecution. He described their actions as outside the outfit’s mandate and “utterly condemnable.”
The state government vowed to uphold professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights in all security engagements, warning that any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the victim’s lawyer, Cyrus Onu, have demanded both prosecution and compensation, accusing the operatives of brutality and threatening the corps member.
