The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian soldiers and their families, describing it as a top priority under his leadership.

Oluyede made the remarks at the end of a three-day operational visit to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The visit, he said, was aimed at assessing operational readiness, interacting with troops, and engaging stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

He noted that welfare remains critical to maintaining morale and operational effectiveness, promising to address challenges within available resources, with Federal Government support.

During the tour, the Army Chief commissioned multiple projects, including a new 6 Division Administration Building, a filling station, the Headquarters 6 Division Extension, Python Harmony House, a Guard Room, two blocks of Corporal Below Quarters, renovated family quarters, and remodelled facilities at 29 Battalion and Elele Barracks.

Oluyede assured that the Nigerian Army would continue to build on its operational successes nationwide.
