Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi has died, leaving fans and colleagues in shock.

Her death was confirmed on Thursday by fellow actor Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano, who took to Instagram to share his grief.

In the post, Segbowe shared screenshots of their last conversation and photos, revealing that she had recently said she was feeling better.

“Motola! Strange but I tried checking on you at the wee hours of that morning. You said you were FINE & BACK! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister. God be with your family,” he wrote.

The cause of her death has not been disclosed.

Veteran actor Odunlade Adekola, who mentored Omotola during her early days in acting, also confirmed the sad news on his Instagram story with a brief message: “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”

Actress Ashabi Simple, who has a child with singer Portable, expressed her disbelief, recalling how she recently saw Omotola on a film set.

“I’m shocked. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. I saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy and we promised to feature each other in our next project. But now, you laboured and didn’t wait to reap.

“I remember nights you chatted with me to give hope and advice. Most of your wishes didn’t even come true. GOD, we can’t question you. Death is deep,” she wrote.

Before joining the movie industry, Omotola Odunsi worked as a credit officer in a government-owned bank. She left her job in 2019 to chase her passion for film with the full support of her family.

Her acting career began in 2018 after she auditioned for Odunlade Adekola Films Production and joined the industry under the guidance of the respected actor.

She went on to star in several notable Yoruba-language films, including Ajanaku, Darkness, Ogo Oluwa, Dagogo, Doctor Adunni, President Kuti, Ifedayo, Amonata, and Lisabi: The Uprising, among others.

Omotola Odunsi is remembered not only for her talent but also for her dedication and the warmth she shared with colleagues both on and off the screen.
