Panic broke out on Sunday after a fire outbreak was reported at the popular Leventis Plaza in Abuja, with an electrical surge suspected to be the cause. The Federal Fire Service (FFS) confirmed that the fire started inside a tailoring workshop on the first floor of the commercial complex. Thanks to a rapid response by firefighters from the National Headquarters, the blaze was contained within minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby businesses including Grand Square, The Palm Hotels and Frazier’s Suites. The FFS disclosed that properties worth about ₦900 million were saved out of an estimated ₦1 billion, averting what could have been a major commercial disaster in the Federal Capital Territory.
