Nigeria and the European Union don agree to strengthen their strategic partnership, with a major ministerial summit scheduled for Abuja in March 2026. According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimibie Ebienfa, the decision follow high-level talks between Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, and EU Ambassador, Gautier Mignot. The EU also pledge continued support for counter-terrorism, Gulf of Guinea maritime security and tackling root causes of instability such as youth unemployment.
