According to the petition, the incident occurred on April 17, 2025, after a dispute over coronation practices, during which the chief and members of his entourage were reportedly assaulted, detained, and coerced to apologize. Chief Arounfale later died from injuries sustained. Falana urged the SSS to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute the suspects under the Criminal Code of Oyo State.
