Kano Cleric Zubairu Killed While Calling Muslims to Prayer A Muslim cleric, identified as Ladan Zubairu, was killed on Monday morning while calling worshippers to prayer at Yusuf Garko Mosque in the Maraba Quarters of Kano. According to the deceased’s son, Isa Kasim, his father went out at dawn to perform the adhan. After making the first call to prayer, he usually sat briefly to recite supplications before proceeding with the second call, when the attack occurred. The suspect allegedly responsible for the killing was chased by an angry mob and killed, while his residence was set ablaze before security operatives arrived and restored calm to the area.
