Army Destroys Seven Illegal Oil Refinery Sites, Arrests Four Suspects in Niger Delta
Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, have destroyed seven illegal crude oil refining sites in a sustained crackdown on oil theft across the Niger Delta region.
According to a statement by Lt. Col. Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the coordinated operations—conducted between 10 and 23 November 2025 in partnership with other security agencies—also led to the arrest of four suspected oil thieves and the recovery of over 109,000 litres of stolen petroleum products valued at more than ₦150 million.

Rivers State
• Ahoada West (Okolomade): 3 illegal sites destroyed, 40,000 litres stolen crude + 20,000 litres AGO recovered
• Imo River axis (Oyigbo LGA): 3 illegal sites, 8 drum pots, fibre boat, 14,700+ litres crude recovered
• Abuloma (Okrika LGA): 1,050 sacks = 32,000 litres stolen crude found
• Abonnema Creek: Cotonou boat seized with over 1,000 litres AGO
Akwa Ibom State
• Abak LGA: Storage facility raided; 520 litres AGO recovered
Delta State
• Uvwie LGA (DAEWOO yard): Suspects fled; troops seized 75 litres crude and several jerricans
• Bayelsa State: Troops maintain pressure on illegal refiners
The GOC, 6 Division, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Emekah, applauded the troops and urged them to continue denying economic saboteurs freedom of action across the Niger Delta.
