South-West Governors Hold Emergency Security Meeting in Ibadan
Governors of the six South-West states—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti—are gathering in Ibadan for an emergency closed-door meeting focused on urgent regional issues, especially rising security concerns.
The meeting, hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, was convened suddenly due to escalating threats affecting the region. Sources say the governors will discuss strategies to strengthen regional cooperation, accelerate infrastructure development, and bolster security under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
A major part of the discussion will center on improving joint security operations, particularly the effectiveness and capacity of the Amotekun Corps, to better respond to emerging challenges across the zone.
