Governor Soludo Donates ₦39 Million to Support Injured ‘Operation Udoka’ Soldiers in Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded ₦1 million each to 39 soldiers injured during security operations in the South-East. These troops are part of the “Operation Udoka” taskforce, working to combat insecurity in the region.
The announcement was made during a special Sallah luncheon held on Saturday at the 302 Artillery Regiment in Onitsha Military Cantonment. The event was hosted by the Commander of the Joint Taskforce South-East and 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, and attended by high-ranking officers, including a representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Olufemi Oluyede.
“Operation Udoka” is a security initiative launched by the Nigerian Army to tackle criminal activities and restore peace in the South-East.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo praised the dedication and bravery of the security forces, which include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Defence, DSS, Police, and Agunaechemba operatives. He emphasized that the state government would also provide free medical care for the injured soldiers in state-owned hospitals.
“We’re gathered here for a special Sallah lunch to honour our gallant officers. I deeply appreciate their commitment to safeguarding our nation,” Soludo said. “The criminals are feeling the heat—thanks to your tireless efforts. Your sacrifices are not in vain.”
He added that the ₦1 million support for each wounded soldier was a token of appreciation and a commitment to their welfare, promising continued collaboration between the state and the military.
Major General Olatoye, in his address, described the event as a time for reflection, unity, and recommitment to service. He praised the resilience and professionalism of the troops, saying, “Your sacrifices may often go unnoticed by the public, but they are deeply valued.”
Also speaking, Major General Adewale Adekeye, representing the Chief of Army Staff, commended the soldiers for their selflessness and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting personnel through policies that prioritize their welfare.
The event highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the Anambra State Government and the Nigerian military in the fight against insecurity in the South-East.
