Kebbi Governor Partners with Chinese Security Firm to Tackle Banditry and Lakurawa Terrorists October 16, 2025
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has signed a strategic partnership with Chinese security firm G-Safety to bolster the fight against banditry and escalating violence by the Lakurawa terrorist group across the state.
The governor’s office described the deal as a “strategic collaboration on intelligence and technology,” aimed at enhancing local capacity to respond to security threats that have plagued several local government areas in recent months.
During a meeting at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, Governor Idris hosted a delegation from G-Safety — a global security consortium headquartered in Beijing. The discussions focused on intelligence sharing, surveillance technology, and operational support for local security forces.
“We invited them to advise and collaborate with us so that our security agencies can better understand and respond to the ongoing security challenges,” said Governor Idris. “We’re looking for practical solutions, and if we’re satisfied with what they bring to the table, we’ll work together for lasting peace.”
G-Safety’s security consultant, Ahmed Saleh Junior, noted that the firm operates in over 36 countries, offering governments and institutions advanced intelligence and surveillance systems.
“Our role is to support existing military and federal operations with cutting-edge technology that allows people to sleep peacefully,” he said.
Saleh revealed plans to deploy a “state-of-the-art digital intelligence collection and collation system” to enhance coordination between state and federal security agencies. The system is expected to generate real-time data and actionable intelligence to improve rapid response and inter-agency collaboration.
Analysts say the move reflects Kebbi’s growing shift toward international technical support amid rising insecurity in Nigeria’s Northwest, despite sustained federal military efforts.
