Macron Reappoints Sébastien Lecornu as France’s Prime Minister

French President Emmanuel Macron has reappointed Sébastien Lecornu as Prime Minister, just four days after accepting his resignation, the Élysée Palace announced on Friday evening.

According to the statement, Lecornu has been instructed to form a new government.

Reacting to his reappointment, Lecornu acknowledged the ongoing political turmoil that has fueled public discontent and tarnished France’s image, saying the crisis “must come to an end.” He vowed to “do everything possible to ensure France has a budget by the end of the year.”

had initially resigned on Monday, less than a month after his first appointment and only a day after unveiling part of his cabinet, citing that “the conditions were no longer in place” for him to continue in office.
