Eni-NNPCL JV Awards Postgraduate Scholarships to 30 Nigerians
Eni’s subsidiary, Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has awarded scholarships to 30 Nigerian graduates for postgraduate studies in Nigerian and international universities under its 2025/2026 Scholarship Awards Scheme.
According to company spokesperson Folu Olapade, 10 beneficiaries will study abroad, while the remaining awardees will pursue advanced degrees in Nigerian universities across disciplines such as engineering, geosciences, petroleum and environmental technology, energy economics, renewable energy, and energy transition.
At the award ceremony in Abuja, NAE Vice Chairman and Managing Director Fabrizio Bolondi congratulated the recipients, stressing that the scholarships reaffirm the company’s commitment to education, innovation, and capacity building in Nigeria.
“The award ceremony highlights our continuous commitment to the future of education, innovation, and capacity building in Nigeria,” Bolondi said.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to develop skills that will contribute to national growth, particularly in the energy sector.
The Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), represented by Edith Bunmi-Lawson and Paul Duke, also attended the ceremony.
Established in 2007, the postgraduate scholarship scheme is part of NNPC-NAE’s human capital development initiatives aimed at bridging the skills gap in specialized fields relevant to Nigeria’s deep offshore oil and gas operations. To date, over 350 graduates have benefited from the program.
Beyond education, Eni has invested in sustainability initiatives in Nigeria, focusing on healthcare, water access, infrastructure, and community empowerment. NAE, incorporated in 1996, manages Eni’s deep offshore assets, with interests in six offshore blocks as operator or co-venturer.
