Three Killed, 1,415 Households Affected By Flash Floods In Adamawa — NEMA | Fintter

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that three people lost their lives while at least 1,415 households were affected by flash floods in Adamawa State.

The incident followed heavy rainfall on Tuesday, which submerged farmlands, destroyed infrastructure, and displaced families in Yola North and Yola South local government areas. Over 40 people sustained injuries.

According to NEMA, a rapid assessment conducted with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and other partners showed that 13 communities were impacted.

“Displaced families are currently being sheltered within host communities, while some have been relocated to the flood resettlement camp in Girei,” the agency said in a statement.

It identified urgent humanitarian needs including food, shelter, medical support, and clean water.

NEMA urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to early warning advisories as the rainy season intensifies. The agency also assured that it is working with ADSEMA, local emergency committees, and humanitarian partners to provide timely relief.
