Public Controversy: Allegations of Staff Mistreatment

Bishop Oyedepo is currently facing public scrutiny following allegations from a former security guard, Greatness, who claimed:
- Surveillance cameras were installed in the kitchen and garden to prevent staff from consuming any food, including leftovers.
- Employees were paid as little as ₦500 per day and were responsible for their own meals, despite working long hours.
- Fresh food was reportedly discarded daily, while underpaid staff went hungry.
- Mrs. Oyedepo allegedly enforced strict rules via CCTV, with punishments or arrests for violations.
- Attempts to defend Oyedepo by suggesting he was unaware were countered by Greatness, who insisted the bishop was fully aware after working there for three years.
These claims have sparked widespread debate in Nigeria, with many awaiting further developments.
In a sermon delivered on June 1, 2025, Bishop Oyedepo addressed the issue of laziness among pastors and church members. He stated:
“Some pastors say they are full-time pastors, but they are full-time lazy. There are too many lazy people in the Church.”
He emphasized that preaching constitutes only 10% of pastoral work, highlighting the importance of diligence and self-reliance.
Despite the controversy, Bishop Oyedepo continues his ministry activities, including:
- Leading the “Operation PUSH: Kingdom Advancement Prayers” sessions.
- Delivering sermons on financial prosperity and spiritual growth.
- Hosting the “Covenant Day of Settlement Service” on June 1, 2025.
The David Oyedepo Foundation has announced the 2025 scholarship program for Nigerian students. The fully funded scholarship aims to support undergraduate studies, with applications open until June 27, 2025.
