NAFDAC Uncovers N35 Million Worth of Expired Beverages in Kaduna Warehouse
In a significant operation, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a warehouse in Kaduna State harboring expired non-alcoholic beverages valued at approximately ₦35 million. The discovery follows a tip-off from a concerned citizen, leading to the interception of two buses and a golf wagon car loaded with expired drinks en route to Kwanar Dangora in Kano State.
Upon further investigation, NAFDAC officials discovered additional expired beverages at a warehouse on Bayajidda Road in Kaduna. The seized products included:
- 700 packs of Schweppes

300 packs of Fanta Orange

588 packs of Schweppes

3,508 packs of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar

87 packs of Fanta Orange
All these products had expired in November 2024 and have been evacuated to NAFDAC's warehouse, awaiting destruction.
The owner of the warehouse has been arrested, and NAFDAC has emphasized that strict regulatory sanctions will be imposed upon the conclusion of the investigation. The agency urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to food and drug safety.
