Jerry Eze

Jerry Eze is a Nigerian Pentecostal pastor and televangelist best known as the founder and lead pastor of Streams of Joy International and the convener of New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations, NSPPD. He became widely known through his intense online prayer broadcasts, especially during and after the Covid era, and his ministry later grew into a major global prayer movement.

Early Life and Background

Jerry Uchechukwu Eze was born on 22 August 1982 in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. He grew up in southeastern Nigeria, and in a 2021 interview he said poverty shaped much of his early life and pushed him toward a deeper dependence on God.

Education

He attended Ibeku High School, Umuahia, from 1991 to 1997. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations from Abia State University and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Career Before Ministry

Before becoming a full time pastor, Jerry Eze worked as a communications specialist with the World Bank project for HIV/AIDS and the United Nations Population Fund. That professional background came before his complete move into ministry.

Beginning of Ministry

Public sources say he began his ministry work in 2009 at All Saints Chapel, Abia State University, Uturu. In 2013, he founded Streams of Joy International in Umuahia, Abia State, which later expanded well beyond its original base.

Following the Covid 19 period, Jerry Eze launched NSPPD, an online prayer platform streamed across YouTube and other social platforms. Streams of Joy describes it as an interdenominational global prayer platform, while its official NSPPD page says the daily prayer broadcast runs Monday to Friday at 7 AM WAT. In 2024, debate followed reports questioning some miracle testimonies from his UK conference, and TheCable reported that he publicly addressed rumours that a miracle had been staged. He also drew wider attention in 2024 when Punch reported that he had become Nigeria’s highest earning YouTube creator by Super Chat revenue, a development that fed public debate about church media monetisation.
