Naeto C 

 

Naeto C, whose real name is Naetochukwu Chikwe, is a Nigerian rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur widely recognized for his smooth delivery and influential role in the evolution of Nigerian hip hop. Born on December 17, 1982, in Houston, Texas, United States, Naeto C hails from Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. He is often referred to as “Super C,” a nickname that became part of his brand and identity in the music industry.

 

Naeto C was born into a prominent and well educated family. His mother, Kema Chikwe, is a respected Nigerian politician and former Minister of Aviation. Despite his privileged background, Naeto C chose to carve his own path in music. He spent part of his early life in Nigeria before returning to the United States for higher education.

 

He studied at George Washington University, where he earned a degree in Biology. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Energy Studies at the University of Dundee in Scotland. While his academic journey was impressive, his passion for music remained strong throughout his years abroad.

 

Naeto C began his music career as a member of the hip hop group World Famous Academy alongside Ikechukwu and Uzikwendu. The group played a key role in shaping early modern Nigerian rap culture. After gaining recognition within the group, Naeto C launched his solo career.

 

His breakthrough came with the release of his debut album U Know My P in 2008. The album featured hit songs like “Kini Big Deal” and “Sitting on Top.” His unique blend of rap and catchy hooks helped him stand out in an industry that was still evolving. The album was commercially successful and positioned him as one of Nigeria’s leading rappers at the time.

 

In 2010, he released his second album Super C, which further cemented his status in the music scene. The album included popular tracks and collaborations with major Nigerian artists. His ability to mix English rap with African rhythms gave him broad appeal among fans.

 

Naeto C’s style is characterized by confidence, polished lyricism, and commercial appeal. Unlike more aggressive rappers, his delivery is calm and calculated, often focused on ambition, success, lifestyle, and positivity. His branding as “Super C” became symbolic of self belief and achievement.

 

Throughout his career, Naeto C received multiple awards and nominations for his contributions to Nigerian hip hop. He was part of the generation of artists that helped push Nigerian rap into the mainstream alongside acts like M I Abaga and Ice Prince.

 

Beyond music, Naeto C has ventured into business and political engagement. He once contested for a legislative seat in Imo State, showing his interest in public service and governance.

 

Though he became less musically active in later years compared to his peak era, his influence remains significant. Naeto C is remembered as one of the artists who helped define Nigerian hip hop in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
