IN LOVE WITH MY SECRETARY Episode 4

Eniola’s POV

After our confession, the office felt different charged, alive, yet fragile. I thought we could keep it quiet, manage our feelings professionally. I was wrong.

Rumors spread faster than wildfire. Whispers in corridors, subtle glances from colleagues, judgment behind polite smiles. I felt eyes on me constantly, measuring, speculating. Every morning, I questioned if I had made a mistake by allowing myself to love him.

One afternoon, a senior manager cornered me in the break room. “I hear things,” he said cautiously, leaning closer. “Be careful. People talk, Eniola. You don’t want this to ruin your career.”

I nodded, swallowing my anxiety. It wasn’t just gossip it was a warning. Loving Oluyemi had suddenly become dangerous. But I couldn’t stay away. Every glance from him felt like a lifeline. Every smile reminded me that this love was real, no matter the risk.

That evening, as the rain fell softly against the office windows, Oluyemi approached me. “I know it’s getting difficult,” he said quietly. “People are watching. Judging. But I can’t let you leave. Not for gossip, not for fear, not for anything.”

Tears welled in my eyes. His determination, his refusal to let go, made me love him even more. “But what if it costs us everything?” I whispered.

“Then we face it together,” he replied, taking my hand gently. “If love is worth it, we fight for it.”

Oluyemi’s POV

Making our relationship public was harder than anything I had faced in business. I had negotiated million-dollar deals, mediated crises, but exposing my heart felt more vulnerable than any boardroom battle. I knew I had to protect her, to shield her from whispers and judgment. But hiding her, hiding us, felt dishonest and unbearable.

When I told the board about us, I expected disapproval, lectures, perhaps even an ultimatum. Instead, they paused, assessed, and then nodded. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Eniola had proven her capability and professionalism; nothing could diminish that.

Yet the world outside the office was another story. Friends, family, society they all had opinions. I had to choose: power, status, control… or love. For the first time, I chose love. I chose her.

The real test came when the office noticed our subtle closeness shared coffee breaks, exchanged glances, moments of quiet laughter. Whispers turned into questions. People watched, speculated, and tried to influence her. But she stood strong. We stood strong.

That night, as we left the office together, the city lights reflected on the rain-soaked streets. I pulled her close, ignoring the stares, the murmurs, the judgment. “No matter what comes,” I whispered, “we face it together.”

She rested her head on my shoulder, and in that moment, all the tension, the fear, the scrutiny faded. For love, we had crossed boundaries, faced scrutiny, and still chose each other.

We were no longer just a boss and a secretary. We were partners. Against the world, if necessary.
