Episode Two: Silence Is Not Safety

They didn’t talk about it after.

They returned the phone. They found the charger. They went back outside and joined the adults, laughing when expected, eating when told. But something had shifted.

That night, Sola couldn’t sleep.

His thoughts felt scrambled. Questions chased each other in his head questions he didn’t know how to ask. He felt ashamed without knowing why. Older without choosing to be.

Amina was quieter too. She stopped playing as much. She flinched at jokes she didn’t understand before. Neither of them told their parents.

Not because they were hiding something bad but because they didn’t know how to explain something they barely understood.

Days passed. Teachers noticed changes. Amina stopped raising her hand in class. Sola became distracted, restless.

One evening, Amina’s mother sat beside her on the bed and asked softly, “Is something bothering you?”

At first, Amina shook her head.

Then she cried.

The words came out tangled, incomplete, but honest. A phone. A video. A feeling she couldn’t name. Fear mixed with confusion.

Her mother didn’t shout.

She listened.

That night, the parents talked really talked for the first time in a long while. Doors were closed. Voices were serious. Phones were brought out and checked.

The truth was uncomfortable, but clear.

Children had wandered into a space that should never have been open to them.
