The Stingy Housewife
In a quiet village, there lived a housewife named Mama Fola. She was clever and hardworking, but she had a flaw that everyone knew: she was extremely stingy.
Even though her home overflowed with food and gold, Mama Fola would never share with neighbors, relatives, or even those in need. “Why give when I can keep?” she would mutter, counting her coins with a greedy grin.Her stinginess created tension in the village.
Children went hungry, families struggled, and no one came near her home, afraid of her sharp words and cold demeanor.
Even her husband begged her to show kindness, but Mama Fola only laughed, insisting that generosity was a waste of time.One day, a mysterious old woman came to the village, asking for food and shelter.
She knocked on Mama Fola’s door, but the housewife scowled. “Go away! We have barely enough for ourselves,” she snapped. The old woman smiled knowingly and said, “Remember, what you keep for yourself may not last, but what you give returns tenfold.”
The next morning, Mama Fola woke to find her storeroom empty. Her gold, her grains, and even her cooking pots had vanished.
Panic filled her heart. She searched everywhere, but nothing remained. She cried for help, but the villagers turned away, remembering her past cruelty.Desperate, Mama Fola went to the edge of the forest and cried out, “Please, I will give and share if only my home is restored!” Suddenly, the old woman appeared again. “True wealth,” she said, “is measured not by what you hoard, but by what you share.”
The housewife nodded, tears streaming down her face. By evening, her home was replenished—and she began sharing food, helping neighbors, and offering kindness freely.From that day, Mama Fola became beloved in the village. Her heart had learned that wealth alone brings little joy, but generosity creates respect, friendship, and true happiness.
Moral: Hoarding wealth or blessings brings emptiness, but generosity and kindness create lasting joy and prosperity for both giver and receiver.
