Nationwide Protests Erupt Across U.S. Cities as Trump Marks First Year Back in Office

On Tuesday, protesters took to the streets in major U.S. cities, including California and New York, to voice their opposition to President Donald Trump’s policies as he marked one year since returning to the White House. The demonstrations were part of a nationwide wave condemning his administration’s immigration policies, foreign relations approach, and governance style.

Demonstrators carried signs with messages such as, “The power of the people is greater than the people in power,” “Abolish ICE,” and “Impeach the PEDO,” reflecting deep frustration over controversial immigration enforcement actions and perceived threats to civil liberties.

Speakers at the rallies accused the administration of dividing the nation and failing to uphold accountability. Blair Thomson said, “This is not America first, this is America alone,” while Ryley Johnson called on Congress to take action against what he described as repeated legal violations by the president.

Across the country, thousands of workers, students, and grassroots activists joined marches in cities from Washington, D.C., to Minneapolis, highlighting anger over immigrant detention facilities, deaths in custody, and alleged federal overreach. University and high school students participated in walkouts and rallies, demanding protection for refugees and an end to aggressive ICE operations.

Left-leaning organizations such as Indivisible, alongside labor unions and grassroots groups, helped organize the events, emphasizing the nationwide call for justice, accountability, and humane treatment of immigrants. Meanwhile, President Trump defended his actions, asserting that his administration was fulfilling its mandate.

As protests continued into the evening, demonstrators in western cities like San Francisco and Seattle planned further rallies, showing that public dissent remains strong across the country.
