Kaduna Govt Accused of Cover-Up as Sources Say Church Kidnappings Were Denied to Avoid U.S. Scrutiny

Fresh revelations suggest the Kaduna State Government initially denied the mass abduction of Christian worshippers in Kajuru Local Government Area to manage international perception and avoid scrutiny from the United States. The denial followed a deadly bandit attack on multiple churches in Kurmin Wali during Sunday services, where over 100 worshippers were reportedly kidnapped.

While the state government publicly dismissed the claims, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) later confirmed that more than 170 worshippers were abducted, with at least 163 still in captivity. Security and government sources disclosed that the denial was a calculated move to protect the state’s fragile peace narrative and avoid political embarrassment.

Sources further revealed that senior police authorities in Abuja were uncomfortable with the handling of the incident, eventually confirming that the kidnappings did occur. Behind the scenes, the Kaduna State Government is reportedly engaging security agencies and federal officials to secure the release of the abducted worshippers, despite its earlier public stance.

The unfolding developments have raised serious concerns about transparency, security management, and the safety of worshippers in Nigeria’s conflict-prone regions.
