Falana Slams Police Over Failure to Arrest Armed Thugs Who Kidnapped, Humiliated Actor Don Pedro

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has condemned the failure of Nigerian security agencies to arrest the armed men who abducted, stripped, and publicly humiliated actor Don Pedro (Dr. Pedro Obaseki) in Benin City, Edo State.
Speaking on Arise News TV, Falana described the December 28, 2025 attack as a serious criminal act that threatened the actor’s life and dignity. According to him, the assailants were heavily armed and deliberately intimidated bystanders, even firing shots into the air to disperse the crowd.
Falana added that after the assault, the victim was treated as a suspect. He was detained at a police station for hours, forced to make a statement, while the attackers remained free.
“Up to now, none of the criminals have been brought to justice,” Falana said, warning that failure to prosecute them would encourage further lawlessness and mob justice.
The incident has sparked outrage among human rights groups, who are calling for an independent investigation into both the attack and the police’s conduct.
