Major Security Wins: Police Foil Kidnappings, Arrest Kingpin & Seize Illegal Arms in Katsina and Delta

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a string of major victories in its relentless fight against kidnapping and arms trafficking across the country.

In a statement released on Friday, Force PRO ACP Muyiwa Adejobi announced that 11 kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed during a daring joint operation in Katsina State. The success came after a fierce gunfight between police-led security operatives and armed bandits along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza road in Danmusa LGA on June 8, 2025. The criminals fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their captives who were safely returned to their families.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team apprehended Abubakar Hassan (30), a notorious kidnapping kingpin linked to high-profile abductions across Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States. Acting on intelligence, the team raided his Ozoro forest hideout, recovering:

  • 2 AK-47 rifles

  • 4 loaded magazines

  • 32 rounds of ammunition

Hassan confessed to multiple operations and named additional accomplices, three of whom had been arrested earlier.

In a separate bust, the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted a suspect, Obi Ezekiel (38), during a stop-and-search along Ughelli Road. Inside his vehicle, officers found:

  • 1 locally made revolver pump-action rifle

  • 15 live cartridges

Ezekiel was arrested on the spot and is now in custody.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the professionalism and bravery of the officers involved.

“There will be no safe haven for criminals. The Nigeria Police remains fully committed to protecting lives and dismantling criminal networks across the country.”

These operations mark a significant step forward in the national effort to combat violent crime and restore public confidence.
