If I Can’t Be There Like My Parents Were for Me, I’d Rather Wait" — Burna Boy Opens Up About Fatherhood
In a recent interview, Burna Boy shared a deeply personal reason why he’s chosen not to have children for now—his parents set the bar incredibly high.
“My mother and father are the reason I’ve decided not to have kids yet. I grew up in a complete home, surrounded by love and unwavering support. If I can’t give my children the same, there’s no point in having them.”
He described how his father was always present, a constant source of encouragement, while his mother sacrificed everything—even leaving her job in the UK—to support his music career in Nigeria.
“There has never been a time I needed them and they weren’t there. That’s exactly the kind of parent I want to be.”
For Burna Boy, being a father isn’t just about having children—it’s about being fully present. And with his music career in full swing, he admits he’s not ready yet. He also emphasized that the woman he marries must be family-oriented, because he wants his kids to grow up inspired by their parents’ love and unity.
