Tragedy Off Djibouti’s Coast: Migrant Lives Lost in Ruthless Smuggling Incident
A heartbreaking incident unfolded off the coast of Djibouti on June 5, where eight migrants drowned and 22 remain missing after being forced to jump into the sea by smugglers. Around 120 survivors were rescued and taken to a response center for urgent care.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) condemned the smugglers’ brutal tactics, calling the incident a stark reminder of the dangers migrants face in search of safety and opportunity.
As investigations continue, the global community is urged to act against human trafficking and protect vulnerable lives.
