Another US Congressman Accuses Tinubu Government of Complicity in Alleged Genocide, Backs Resolution on Nigeria

U.S. Congressman Randy Fine has joined other lawmakers supporting a congressional resolution urging stronger U.S. action on escalating religious-related violence in Nigeria. In a statement on X, Fine condemned what he described as the “slaughter of innocent Christians by Muslim terrorists” and accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of remaining silent and complicit. He endorsed a resolution sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith calling for Nigeria to be designated a “country of particular concern” over religious freedom violations. The measure seeks increased diplomatic pressure and monitoring of extremist attacks.

While Nigeria continues to battle Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other armed groups, the government rejects allegations of religious persecution, insisting it is working to improve security. The resolution is expected to advance further debate in the U.S. Congress on human rights and security issues in West Africa.
