Diddy Threatens to Sue Netflix Over Alleged ‘Stolen Footage’ in 50 Cent–Produced Docuseries

Sean “Diddy” Combs has issued a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix, demanding the streaming platform halt the release of Sean Combs: The Reckoning, a new docuseries produced by longtime rival Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Combs’ legal team claims Netflix used “stolen footage,” including material filmed just days before his 2024 arrest—footage they argue was created for his own decades-long personal documentary project.

A spokesperson reiterated that the footage belongs solely to Combs and criticized Netflix for not providing an advance screener. Netflix declined comment but pointed to director Alexandra Stapleton’s statement asserting all materials were lawfully obtained and that Combs’ team repeatedly ignored invitations to participate.

Combs’ attorneys warned of possible legal action, citing his history of defamation lawsuits. Representatives accused Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos of knowingly misusing private archival footage and collaborating with 50 Cent, whom they described as having a personal vendetta.

Combs is currently serving a 50-month federal sentence for transportation to engage in prostitution; he was acquitted of racketeering and trafficking charges. He faces roughly 70 civil lawsuits, many of which have been dismissed.
