The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, has arrested a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency, the Naira.
According to the agency, Sa’ad, who operates under the username @youngcee0066 on TikTok and Instagram, posted a video in which he was seen throwing Naira notes on the floor and stepping on them, while taunting the EFCC in Hausa and daring them to arrest him.
The video, which quickly went viral, prompted the EFCC to launch a surveillance operation. Sa’ad was apprehended in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State and taken into custody at the EFCC’s Kaduna office for interrogation.
The commission stated that Sa’ad would be charged to court once investigations are completed.
The EFCC has repeatedly warned the public against the abuse and mishandling of the Naira, including actions such as spraying money at parties, writing on notes, or trampling on them—offences that are punishable under Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
