• “Not My Decision!”: Governor Muftwang Washes Hands Off Wike, Fayose’s Expulsion from PDP

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, has firmly dissociated himself from the expulsion of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and several others from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued by Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor clarified that the issue was never discussed at the PDP Governors Forum nor at the National Executive Committee (NEC) before the motion was suddenly introduced.

The statement stressed that the expulsion move does not represent Governor Muftwang’s position, especially given the delicate state of the party.

    According to the release:

“Governor Mutfwang made it clear that the matter was neither discussed by the Governors Forum nor at the NEC before the motion was presented. The proposal does not reflect his stance.”

The governor emphasized that sacking key party leaders at such a critical time is not a strategic approach to resolving the PDP’s internal crisis.

He called instead for unity, dialogue, and collective effort to rebuild and reposition the party for the challenges ahead.

  • Fayose Declares: “PDP Is in a State of Coma” — Says Party’s Crisis Beyond Rescue

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has delivered a blunt assessment of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that Nigeria’s main opposition party is “in a state of comatose” and possibly beyond redemption.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Fayose said the PDP’s internal problems have deepened following contradictory court rulings and power struggles, accusing some judges of judicial overreach.

“I have to tell you the hard truth — PDP is in trouble, the party has gone bad and is in a coma,” he stated. “When a fish decays from the head, there’s no saving it.”

Fayose specifically condemned an Oyo State High Court order allowing the PDP’s national convention to proceed despite an earlier Federal High Court injunction stopping it, describing the ruling as compromised and dangerous for the rule of law.

The outspoken former governor said the party’s leadership crisis stemmed from failures at the top, warning that the PDP is imploding under internal divisions and judicial confusion.

“The judge compromised the matter and granted an ex parte order. This is a bad precedent,” he said.

Despite his criticism, Fayose reaffirmed his commitment to remain in the PDP, though he admitted that several of his colleagues had already left.

“Three governors have gone already, and another will soon leave. When I return here, I’ll remind you,” he added.

The PDP, which has been battling factional leadership between Umar Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu’s camp, continues to face deepening legal and political turmoil ahead of its national convention.

  • Genocide: Slam treasonable felony charges on those who reported Nigeria to Trump – Group.

The National Patriotic Elders for Peace and Harmony of Nigeria, has urged President Tinubu to slam Treasonable Felony charges against citizens who reported alleged massacre of Christians to America.

Speaking in a press release, President of the Elders, Dr Bature AbdulAziz, said what those who lack patriotism and respect for Nigeria did was nothing but treasonable felony, which they should be prosecuted for..

“Nigeria is a sovereign Country with sufficient laws and legal backings to take care of every concerns of it’s Citizens, therefore, reporting to other Countries is nothing but downgrading the sovereignty of the nation and anybody who does that should be punished.”

The Forum urged Northern Governors to immediately converge a regional meeting, involving all religious and ethnic groups to discuss issues surrounding critical insecurity challenges and the continued killings of innocent citizens.

He said the silence of the Northern Governor’s in the face of the growing American President Donald Trump’s threats of war is not golden, asking them to document all killings and present a detailed report of insurgent activities based on different demographics and attributes.

“The assumption that over 500,000 Christians were killed should be backed with facts, data and figures by the Northern Governors before the appropriate authorities and stakeholders, this could only be done when the governors are serious”

AbdulAziz claimed that the American government is fully aware, with backed data, that the motive of the killings in Nigeria are not driven by ethnicity, religious or regional categories.

“A Cross fact checking would clearly show that must of those killed from 1999 to date, 75 percent are Muslims across the country and places and towns affected by this grave insecurity are muslim populated areas. Often times, these communities and towns are burned, lynched and destroyed”.

  • Prison Break: Nigerian Kidnap Convict Escapes UK Prison, Sparks Major Police Manhunt.

A Nigerian man, Ola Abimbola, convicted of kidnapping and serving a 21-year sentence, has escaped from an open prison in Sussex, United Kingdom, sparking a widespread police search.

The 36-year-old, jailed for conspiracy to kidnap, grievous bodily harm, blackmail, and false imprisonment, reportedly walked out of HMP Ford around 8 a.m. on October 10 — barely a month after being transferred there. He has been missing ever since.

Abimbola’s transfer to the open prison, also known as a Category D facility, was made under new Labour government rules aimed at easing overcrowding in higher-security prisons. The relaxed policy allows inmates to move to open conditions earlier in their sentences, even if they are not yet close to release.

Under the old system, Abimbola would not have qualified for transfer for another six years. Open prisons have minimal security and are meant to help low-risk prisoners reintegrate into society a move that has now come under scrutiny following his disappearance.

Sussex Police have launched a manhunt, urging the public not to approach the fugitive and to report any information by calling 999. Authorities admit that efforts to track him down have so far been unsuccessful.

The escape has intensified political pressure on Justice Secretary David Lammy, already facing criticism after the mistaken release of two foreign sex offenders and a British fraudster. Opposition figures say the justice system is “in chaos,” blaming government policy changes for endangering the public.

Mark Drury of the Prison Governors’ Association said the rise in absconders from open prisons shows a troubling trend, noting that many prisoners now housed in such facilities “would not have been considered suitable two or three years ago.”

In response, the Ministry of Justice defended the system, insisting that all transfers follow “strict risk assessments” and that any offender breaching the rules can be “immediately returned to closed conditions.”

  • Police Restriction Order Flouted in Anambra as Commercial Vehicles Operate Freely on Election Day.

Some residents and commercial vehicle operators in Awka and Onitsha, Anambra State, on Saturday disregarded the restriction of movement order issued by the State Police Command ahead of the governorship election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the restriction, expected to last from midnight to 6:00 p.m., was meant to cover all roads within the state, including interstate highways.

However, NAN observed that commercial vehicles operated freely in several parts of Awka, the state capital, as commuters openly boarded vehicles without hindrance. A similar situation played out from Ogidi Local Government Area to the Nkpor junction, where movement continued unhindered.

Security personnel were spotted at strategic points, including the popular Nkpor Road, monitoring activities across various junctions in the capital city.

In contrast, INEC operations suffered delays as officials arrived late at multiple polling units in Awka and Onitsha. At Agwuoka Polling Unit 008, officials were dropped off at exactly 8:40 a.m., while their counterparts at Aroma Polling Unit 022 were still setting up their stand around the same time.

Mrs Mary Fajoye, an INEC monitoring official in Awka South Local Government Area, confirmed that both sensitive and non-sensitive materials had been dispatched from the council office on Friday. She attributed some delays to difficulties encountered by polling officers in locating their designated registration areas, adding that the challenges had been resolved.

At Amawbia 02, Polling Unit 3, Central School III, officials and voting materials were already in place by 8:19 a.m., ahead of the official commencement of voting at 8:30 a.m.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Mark Kalu, was seen briefing voters on the conduct of the election, assuring them that priority would be given to albinos, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the elderly.

As of the time of filing this report, accreditation of voters had commenced at Eze Chima Primary School Polling Unit on Awka Road.

  • US Lawmakers Move to Sanction 12 Nigerian Governors Over Alleged Christian Persecution.

According to a report by The Punch on Monday, November 3, 2025, a major diplomatic clash is brewing between Nigeria and the United States as the US Congress considers a bill that could impose sanctions on 12 northern governors, judges, and traditional rulers accused of complicity in religious persecution.

The proposed Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025, sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz, follows President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” for alleged Christian genocide.

The bill seeks visa bans, asset freezes, and financial restrictions on officials enforcing or tolerating Sharia or blasphemy laws under the Global Magnitsky framework.

Trump claimed thousands of Christians have been killed in Nigeria, directing the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to act “without delay.” He warned of possible military intervention if the killings persist, saying the US could go “guns-a-blazing” against Islamic terrorists.

Nigeria’s Federal Government rejected the allegations, asserting that the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion and prohibits any state religion. It clarified that Sharia applies only to Muslims in certain northern states and is subject to constitutional review.

Foreign affairs experts warn the crisis could damage bilateral relations, reduce US aid, and affect arms deals vital to Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.

Former ambassador Mohammed Mabdul said the CPC tag would “weaken diplomatic cooperation,” while ex–Foreign Ministry spokesman Ogbole Amedu-Ode urged the government to protect citizens’ rights and rebuild global trust.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to meet Trump soon to clarify Nigeria’s stance and strengthen security ties amid rising global scrutiny.

  • Anambra governorship election: “You’ll suffer” — AAC’s Ifemeludike alleges in new video as she warns Anambra residents against re-electing Governor Soludo.

African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, Chioma Ifemeludike, has cautioned Anambra residents and alleged that they will “suffer” if they reelect Governor Chukwuma Soludo instead of voting for her in the November 8 election.

The Nollywood actress and producer criticized Soludo over the poor condition of roads in Awka, particularly Uche Ekwunife Crescent, which she described as “totally dilapidated.” She accused the governor of neglecting basic infrastructure while constructing a new Government House with “wide, paved roads for himself and his generations.”

Ifemeludike said Soludo’s administration has failed to deliver good governance or quality social amenities, claiming he is only interested in showmanship. “If you miss out, you will suffer for it because Soludo is not ready to provide real leadership,” she said.

In a Facebook post directed at the governor, she asked, “@ccsoludo, why are you afraid to repair the capital city’s bad roads? Awka shouldn’t look so rural and undeveloped. With FAAC, local allocations, and IGR, we should have Dubai/Taiwan-style infrastructure.”

She urged voters not to be deceived but to come out en masse to make a better choice on election day. “On November 8, you have a choice — and that choice is Chioma for governor 2025,” she declared.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 16 political parties will participate in the Anambra governorship election.

  • ADC Candidate John Nwosu Blasts Governor Soludo Over Insecurity Ahead of Anambra Polls

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra State election, John Nwosu, has criticized incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of failing the people during his tenure.

Speaking on ‘Prime Time’ on Arise Television, Nwosu highlighted that four years in office is crucial for a state’s progress and said Soludo’s administration has fallen short.

“The indices are there for everyone to see, starting with insecurity. In the last three and a half years, Anambra has lost people to kidnappings,” he stated.

He cited Ihiala Local Government, home to the owner of Air Peace, as a stark example:

“That area has been ravaged by insecurity for over three years. Residents have been forced to hold weddings and burials outside their hometown because they cannot return safely,” Nwosu added.

The statement underscores growing concerns about security and governance as Anambra prepares for its upcoming gubernatorial election.

  • We Cannot Rig Election For Politicians New INEC Chairman, Amupitan Assures Nigerians.

The newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), has vowed to protect the integrity of Nigeria’s elections, declaring that there will be no form of manipulation or rigging under his watch.

Speaking during his first official address in Abuja, Prof Amupitan assured Nigerians that the commission is fully committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections across the country.

He stated that INEC’s responsibility to the people is clear and non-negotiable.
“We should not compromise our values or processes that could have consequences. So the integrity of our elections is not even something we should negotiate, please,” he said.

Prof Amupitan, who was sworn in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 23, 2025, emphasized that his administration will focus on transparency and accountability within the commission.

“As I was leaving the State House, the first question that was asked was, OK, what do you want to do now, Anambra? I refused to talk about Anambra. Until I’ve come to meet with the staff,” he added.

He further revealed that President Tinubu had charged the commission to ensure credible polls, especially as the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, approaches.

“Mr. President, in his remark, also echoed the same, that we should do everything possible as we go into an Anambra election to give this country a fair, free, and credible election,” he said.

The INEC boss also assured staff members of improved welfare under his leadership. “For me, staff welfare is going to be my priority. I can see the echoes. It is going to be a priority because we are going to be expecting so much from you,” he told senior INEC officials during his maiden meeting.

The newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), has vowed to protect the integrity of Nigeria’s elections, declaring that there will be no form of manipulation or rigging under his watch. • INEC Must Not Pretend’ – ADC Accuses Soludo Of Vote Buying Ahead Of Anambra Election.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, of engaging in voter inducement, following a viral video clip showing the governor addressing electorates ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

In a statement on Sunday by its National spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC claimed that the governor’s remarks were a “clear display of desperation” and an “open violation” of the Electoral Act, particularly Sections 121 and 127, which criminalise vote buying and voter inducement.

“Ahead of the November 8th election, Soludo has clearly lost the confidence of the people of Anambra, and it shows,” the ADC said.

The ADC alleged that Governor Soludo’s recent actions indicate a loss of public goodwill and a willingness to disregard electoral laws for political survival.

“Only a sitting governor who has run out of public goodwill would so openly resort to cash for votes, in direct violation of Sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act, which criminalise voter inducement of any form,” the statement added.

The party described the act as “a new level of desperation wrapped in impunity”, warning that such conduct undermines democracy and erodes public trust in the electoral process.

The ADC also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take immediate notice of the governor’s alleged actions and ensure accountability.

  • “Okpoko Kept Me Awake at Night” — Governor Soludo Reveals Why He Ran for Anambra Governorship

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has revealed that the Okpoko area in Ogbaru Local Government was one of the main reasons he decided to contest for governor in 2022.

Speaking during the Ogbaru Constituency Campaign Rally held in Okpoko on Friday, Soludo said the deplorable condition of the community inspired his mission to transform the state.

“Okpoko is one of the major reasons why I contested to be governor of Anambra,” Soludo said.
“From 2010 until 2022, I could not sleep well seeing the way Okpoko was — the biggest urban slum in the Southeast, if not Nigeria, with over half a million people. No water, no roads, no streetlights, nothing.”

The governor recalled his campaign promise to begin work in Okpoko immediately after his inauguration — a promise he said he fulfilled.

“I was sworn in on the 17th, and on the 18th I came here. Today, over 20 kilometers of roads have been completed, with streetlights, pipe-borne water, and for the first time, a hospital for Okpoko residents,” Soludo added.
“Children now enjoy free education, and that’s why we came — to show love and deliver real change. I love you all, and I’ll even take one room here,” he said jokingly.

Soludo’s remarks highlighted his administration’s focus on inclusive development, particularly for communities long neglected in urban planning.

  • "Stop Using Unemployed Youths to Disrupt Elections" — Sen. Oshiomhole Warns Politicians.

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged politicians and lawmakers to stop recruiting unemployed youths to disrupt elections, warning that such practices fuel post-election insecurity.

Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, the former Edo State governor said violence has no place in democracy and blamed political actors for empowering thugs during elections.

“After every election, violent crimes rise because politicians who armed hungry youths can’t retrieve the weapons. Those arms are then used for robbery and other crimes,” he said.

Oshiomhole recalled warning fellow governors years ago that AK-47 rifles were not items just anyone could afford, implying that only influential figures could sponsor electoral violence.

He emphasized the need for sincerity among politicians, urging them to allow Nigerians to “hire and fire without fear” through credible elections. “If we truly commit to eliminating violence, we will have free, fair, and transparent elections,” he said.

The senator added that the true beauty of democracy lies not in holding office but in earning the people’s trust. “If you rig or manipulate elections, deep in your heart, you know you’re not a happy person,” he noted.

Oshiomhole also cautioned against conducting presidential, governorship, and National Assembly elections on the same day and called for vigilance against hackers as Nigeria deepens its use of election technology.

He concluded, “We, as senators and elected officials, must resolve never to arm or use unemployed youths to disrupt elections. Once we stop that, 90 percent of our electoral problems will be solved.”
