• BREAKING: Kogi Govt Deploys Helicopter, Anti-Kidnapping Squad After Church Attack

The Kogi State Government has launched both aerial and ground security operations following a violent attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA.

Video footage shared by Egbe Emekun Parrot shows a state-deployed helicopter and anti-kidnapping unit combing the area in pursuit of the armed attackers.

During the assault, the church pastor, popularly known as Orlando, and an unconfirmed number of worshippers were reportedly abducted. Residents are anxious as the operation continues to track the perpetrators and secure the victims’ safe release.

Footage from the scene shows the church interior in disarray, with shoes and Bibles left behind. A witness filming said:

“I hid myself; this is the church where they kidnapped people… Baba Orlando, the head of this church, was taken. They didn’t even turn off the speaker.”

This attack adds to a worrying trend of violence against places of worship in Kogi and neighboring states. Just weeks ago, on November 18, bandits attacked Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State, killing five people and abducting 38 worshippers, including women, children, and the elderly.

Security agencies successfully rescued the Kwara victims after coordinated operations, raising hopes that the Kogi abductees will also be freed safely.

  • "How many arrests were made?"- Falz blasts President Tinubu after rescue of 38 CAC worshipers.

Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed dissatisfaction following the announcement of the rescue of 38 abducted members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Reacting in a post on his X handle on Sunday, Falz demanded clarity on what happened to the abductors behind the attack.

He queried why no updates were provided on any arrests or neutralization of the suspects.

“THIS DOES NOT CUT IT. Where are the abductors?? Were they killed? How many arrests were made???” he wrote on X.

His reaction followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement of the rescue of the 38 worshippers and 51 of the students abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State.

Tinubu had commended security operatives for the coordinated operations in both North Central states and reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.

  • Residents of Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday blocked the Kwara–Kogi highway in anger after a fresh terrorist attack claimed lives and abducted worshippers.
From as early as 6am, aggrieved youths barricaded the major road with logs, planks, tyres, and other objects, leaving many vehicles stranded on both sides of the interstate route. Motorists were forced to wait for hours as protesters insisted they would not leave until authorities addressed the worsening insecurity.

The demonstrators said the blockade was a desperate attempt to draw attention to the constant attacks that have made Eruku and nearby communities easy targets for terrorists.
The latest incident occurred on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, when gunmen invaded the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) during a worship session, killing at least three members and abducting several others.
