NYSC to Begin ₦77,000 Monthly Allowance for Corps Members in February – DG

NYSC to start paying ₦77,000 to corps members from February 2025.

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, announced on Thursday that corps members will start receiving an increased allowance of ₦77,000 starting in February 2025.

The announcement was made during his address to the 2024 Batch 'C' Stream II corps members in Katsina State.

General Ahmed confirmed that the allowance increment had been approved by the Federal Government and was included in the 2025 Federal Government budget. He stated that the payment would begin once the budget is passed.

“The Federal Government has approved the increase in your allowance, and we are waiting for the passage of the budget. Although January has ended, by next month (February), you will start receiving ₦77,000 instead of the previous ₦33,000,” he stated.

In his speech, the DG advised the corps members to avoid any form of misconduct or actions that could hinder their future goals. He emphasized that qualities such as diligence, honesty, perseverance, and faith in God are key to achieving a prosperous life.

He also encouraged the corps members to respect the traditions and cultures of their host communities and integrate swiftly after leaving the Orientation Camps.

General Ahmed further urged the corps members to contribute positively to their host communities by initiating personal or group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would improve the living standards of the residents.
