The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced plans to collaborate with the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) to advance research and development initiatives. This partnership was revealed during the official commissioning of the NAS-TY Danjuma Science Museum and Library Building at the NAS headquarters in Abuja.

NCDMB's Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe, highlighted that the Board would closely work with NAS in fostering research initiatives. Ogbe, who was represented by Barr. Esueme Dan Kikile, General Manager of Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination, also discussed the Board’s efforts in developing the Oloibiri Oil Museum and Research Centre. This project is being pursued in collaboration with Shell Petroleum, the Bayelsa State Government, and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), aiming to create a dedicated oil research center in Nigeria after five decades of oil production.

Ogbe emphasized that promoting research and development is a central goal of the NOGICD Act, with the NCDMB actively working towards its realization. He pointed out that the museum and research center would serve not just as a building, but as an active research hub, essential for the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.

The President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Prof. Ekanem I. Braide, stated that the museum would be a vital resource for inspiring and advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Braide also stressed that for sustainable development, research must inform policy, and policies must be practically applied through strong collaborations between researchers, the government, industry, and communities.

Ogbe further noted that the NCDMB has dedicated a $50 million fund for research and development and emphasized the importance of serious commitment to research as a tool for national development.
