The registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will now start on Monday, February 3, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled date of Friday, January 31, 2025.
This announcement was made by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, on Friday. The shift in the registration date is necessary to allow the Board to implement important adjustments to its registration templates.
According to Benjamin, these changes are prompted by the recent suspension of certain law programs at selected universities, as communicated to JAMB by the Council for Legal Education. Additionally, the Board discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers had submitted misleading information to gain approval. As a result, the Board is taking steps to conduct further scrutiny and disapprove such centers.
"The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience," the statement read. The extra time will be used to finalize all necessary changes to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process.
JAMB had also announced on Thursday that it would not be conducting admissions for law programs at certain universities where the Council of Legal Education (CLE) had suspended the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program for the 2025/2026 academic session. These universities, along with the Nigerian Police Academy, will not be accepting admissions for the law program, with the ban on registrations at the Police Academy extending into the 2026/2027 academic session.
The affected universities are:
- Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
- Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
- Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
- Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
- Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
- Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
- Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
- Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
