A Max Air flight experienced a tyre burst while landing at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Tuesday night, sending waves of panic through the passengers. Fortunately, all passengers and crew were safely evacuated without any major injuries.

The incident took place at 10:57 pm, as Flight VM1605, which had departed from Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) in Lagos, was making its approach to Kano. According to an airport source, the aircraft suffered a tyre burst upon landing, prompting immediate emergency response procedures.

It is believed that the aircraft may have lost its nose landing gear tyre, contributing to the incident. However, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is set to launch a comprehensive investigation to confirm the exact cause of the tyre burst.

Abdullahi Ibrahim, one of the passengers on board, recounted the tense moment after landing: “As soon as we landed, there was a loud noise, and the plane shook violently. Some passengers started praying, but the crew assured us everything was under control. We are just grateful to be safe.”

Although attempts to contact Max Air for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of reporting, aviation experts reassured the public that such incidents, while alarming, are not uncommon in the industry.

Aviation analyst Kabiru Ali explained, “Tyre bursts can occur for various reasons, such as runway conditions, wear and tear, or the impact during landing. The key takeaway is that no one was harmed, and the crew managed the situation well.”

Normal flight operations resumed at Kano airport after authorities worked to clear the affected aircraft from the runway.
