Bandits Attack Efagi Village, Kidnap Couple, Injure Vigilante in Kwara
A late-night bandit attack on Efagi village, under the Lafiagi Emirate in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, has left one man kidnapped, his wife briefly abducted, and a vigilante injured.
The incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Friday when the assailants stormed the community, firing indiscriminately. In the chaos, the couple was seized from their home, while a vigilante attempting to repel the attack sustained injuries.
According to a resident who spoke to NupekoTV Lafiagi, Nigerian Army troops arrived swiftly and engaged the attackers. Their intervention led to the rescue of the woman, though her husband remains in captivity.
“The Army arrived instantly and started engaging with them,” the resident said, confirming that the woman was freed during the clash.
As of Friday morning, soldiers remain stationed in the area and are actively pursuing the fleeing bandits.
