Elon Musk Endorses Call for Trump’s Impeachment Amid Escalating Budget Feud

A public rift between Elon Musk and U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified, with the billionaire tech mogul now openly supporting calls for Trump’s impeachment over a controversial federal budget bill.
The clash, which has rapidly spread across social media and major news outlets, revolves around what Musk describes as a "pork-filled" spending bill and Trump’s alleged political ingratitude toward the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.
The feud escalated on Thursday when Musk endorsed a post on his platform, X, by conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong, who wrote:
“President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him.”
Musk replied simply: “Yes.”
That brief response marked a significant escalation in tensions between the two figures, once aligned on several political fronts.
Controversial Budget Bill at the Center of Conflict
At the heart of the dispute is Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping budget measure that includes the extension of Trump-era tax cuts and a proposed $46.5 billion allocation for expanding U.S.-Mexico border infrastructure.
Musk has repeatedly slammed the bill, calling it fiscally irresponsible.
“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote earlier this week. “Shame on those who voted for it—you know you did wrong.”
He warned the bill would add substantially to the U.S. budget deficit:
“It will increase the already gigantic deficit to $2.5 trillion and place unsustainable debt on American taxpayers.”
Musk Disputes Trump’s Claims
In response to Trump’s public remarks accusing Musk of changing his stance after being well informed on the bill, Musk fired back:
“False. This bill was never shown to me, not even once. It was rushed through Congress in the dead of night—so fast that even lawmakers barely had time to read it.”
He also accused Trump of failing to appreciate his political influence:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Democrats would control the House, and Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.”
Political Fallout and Future Implications
Musk’s relationship with the Trump administration has soured in recent months. He recently resigned from an advisory role, citing growing policy differences—particularly over federal spending and governance priorities.
While Musk continues to support various U.S. government initiatives, his advocacy for deep cuts to federal expenditures has placed him at odds with both major parties, drawing criticism and praise in equal measure.
As calls for impeachment gain traction in fringe conservative circles, it remains unclear whether Musk's influence will shift broader political tides—or simply deepen existing fractures in the American right.
