TIKTOKER MIRABEL RAPE CASE
TikToker Mirabel Rape Allegation: Police and Agency Response
The alleged rape of Nigerian TikTok content creator Mirabel, who shared her account of being sexually assaulted in her home, has triggered widespread public concern and official action from law enforcement and government agencies.
Mirabel, known on social media as @mirab351, posted a viral video in which she claimed that a stranger forcibly entered her residence on Sunday, February 15, 2026, and sexually assaulted her. In the video, she described struggling with insomnia and consuming alcohol to sleep before hearing a knock on her door. She said that upon opening it, she was pushed, hit her head, and later woke to find herself sexually assaulted. She also alleged that the attacker left her bleeding and that she had received threatening messages from a man she referred to as “Priston,” who allegedly admitted to the assault.
The video rapidly drew attention online under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen, prompting public outrage and calls for urgent action from authorities. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) immediately reacted, acknowledging the viral clips and affirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual violence. The agency said it was trying to locate the survivor to provide support and ascertain her whereabouts, urging anyone with information about the case to come forward.
Initially, the Lagos State Police Command’s Gender Unit was reported to have received information about the case and was expected to assist in the investigation. However, further coordination revealed that the alleged incident occurred outside Lagos State. Subsequent probes indicated that the assault likely happened in Ogun State, meaning the matter fell outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos DSVA. In response, the DSVA transferred all relevant details to the Ogun State Police Command for investigation.
Ogun State police have since confirmed they are actively investigating the matter. Spokespersons for the command said Mirabel was found and taken to a hospital for more extensive medical care to support her recovery and facilitate evidence collection. As of the latest updates, the police have begun formal investigative procedures, including documentation of her statements, and have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring her safety and pursuing justice if the allegations are substantiated.
Authorities have not disclosed arrests or specific suspect identities, and official inquiries are ongoing. Meanwhile, public discourse continues to emphasize the need for stronger protections for survivors and effective law enforcement responses to sexual violence in Nigeria.
