She Held My Veil Episode 2

Chapter Two: The Truth Nobody Warns You About

Lola froze.

Daniel’s face drained of color.

For a second, nobody spoke.

The food slipped from my hands and hit the floor, the sound loud in the sudden silence.

“Explain,” I said. My voice didn’t sound like mine.

Daniel tried first. He stuttered. Reached for words that didn’t exist.

“It’s not what it looks like”

I laughed. A dry, broken laugh.

“Then what does it look like?”

Lola stepped forward, tears already in her eyes.

“I didn’t plan it,” she said. “It just happened.”

That was when something inside me went quiet.

Because betrayal never “just happens.”

It grows.

It feeds.

It chooses.

“How long?” I asked.

Neither of them answered.

That answer told me everything.

I walked out without screaming. Without fighting. Without begging.

That night, I cried until morning.

The next day, I called off the wedding.

People talked. Some blamed stress. Some blamed evil friends. Some blamed me for “not fighting for my man.”

I didn’t explain.

I didn’t owe anyone my pain.

Lola sent messages. Long ones. Apologies wrapped in excuses.

Daniel begged. Promised therapy. Promised change.

I blocked them both.
