Mr. Toheeb and the Sea That Knew His Name
Mr. Toheeb had been a fisherman since boyhood, rising before dawn to cast his nets while the village slept. The villagers often whispered about his uncanny luck—no matter the season, no matter the storm, his boat always returned full. What they did not know was that the sea knew him.
Years ago, when a violent storm nearly swallowed his small canoe, Mr. Toheeb had shouted not for gold or fish, but for his life. The waves calmed instantly, and a deep, echoing voice rolled beneath the water, calling his name. From that day, the sea watched him.
The gift came with a test. When he fished with greed or impatience, his nets tore and the water grew restless. But when he showed respect, patience, and care, the sea rewarded him with abundance.
One night, a storm fiercer than any before threatened the village. Boats capsized, families prayed, and despair filled the air. Alone, Mr. Toheeb ventured out, listening to the whispers of the waves, letting the water guide him. By dawn, he returned with fish enough to feed the village for weeks.
From then on, elders said, “The sea gives fish to many, but it gives wisdom only to those who listen.” The villagers learned that true success comes not from selfish desire, but from respect, patience, and harmony with nature—a lesson that guided generations to come.
